About Words That Can't Wait
If you are like me, you hope to be the one your children turn to in times of trouble, pain, and uncertainty. But being seen as a refuge from the pressures and rejections of the world does not happen by accident. Becoming your child’s “go-to person” requires communication, trust, acceptance, love, and time. Unfortunately, there are many barriers in our day-to-day lives that prevent these vital investments from taking place. This leaves us to assume our children know our love is unconditional, and our support knows no limits. We cannot afford to assume; our children need to hear certain assurances from us. Spurred by an anonymous letter written by an eighth grader expressing suicidal thoughts he could not share with his parents, I recently took action. In an effort to equip this child’s parents with the words their son desperately needed to hear, I created this free eBook containing five critical conversations that help broach tough topics, repair past damage, and create new, loving communication practices for the future.

This book is not just for one child; it is for all children. The words in this book have the potential to become our children’s loving inner voice, directing them on a path of true fulfillment and self-acceptance, built on a foundation of a parent's unconditional love.

Through my experience as a special education teacher, author, speaker, and mother, I’ve learned we cannot assume our children know we are their refuge; we must tell them, eye-to-eye, heart-to-heart. Let’s begin with the words in this book.

With great love and high hopes,
